Microsoft continues to diss Nintendo's third party sales

Console round-up Ebay bargains to be had

THERE ARE A couple of console bargains on Ebay this week, but you'll have to dig deep.

Another NES pack containing the entire set of grey NES cartridges has appeared - but don't expect to pay much less than several thousand dollars.

You can also purchase the Dark Knight themed Xbox 360 from our flea-market overlords, but expect to pay upwards of $1200.

PS3/PSP
Speaking at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival, former SCEE president Chris Deering predicted Sony and Nintendo will draw in hardware sales by 2011.

The EIF chairman presented figures he calculated based on comparing Screen Digest and IDG data. He said the installed base for console hardware is set to rise from 316 million to 500 million over the next three years, with "two big mega-powers" leading the sales.

Taking their cue from the genius that is Ben Heck, a group has designed their own PS3 laptop.

Xbox 360
Microsoft has released information on the UK 60GB edition of the Xbox 360 console, which will sell at the same price point as the replaced 20GB edition - £200.

The new console SKU will be available in the UK from the 15th of August.

Microsoft has continued to diss Nintendo's third party sales, with David Dennis, group manager of corporate PR at Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business commenting to Gamesindustry.biz:

"No matter how you slice it, the Wii third party game story is not a pretty one".

Microsoft was hitting back at claims made by Nintendo that the Wii has been selling the most third party games. Microsoft is instead stating the Xbox 360 sells the most.

Later, Microsoft attempted to describe how its Dad was better at fighting than Nintendo's.

Someone has managed to video the new Xbox 360 GUI, and even installing GTA IV to the hard-drive, over at Xbox-Scene.com.

Wii/DS
As a beloved Brian Wilson fan, this hack took great joy in hearing the theremin version of the Super Mario Brothers theme, available here.

If you're not interested in buying the NES package from Ebay, maybe you'd be more interested in making your NES into a lunch-box.

Or you could spend your lunch with your own DIY Wiimote mod for USB missile launching. µ

Its all about time

Isn't the difference between Nintendo's and Microsoft's views on the third party sales down to the x-axis on their charts?

Nintendo is saying it sold more third party software in the first x months of release compared to the xbox360 or ps3.

Micosoft are saying that in terms of absolute sales they sold more third party titles. But over a longer period (having released 12 months before Ninty and Sony).

It gets sad, when they start talking about games per console as a measure of loyalty and success.

Isn't that supposed to be about playing the games?
